Following the retirement of the former Chief Judge of the state Justice Mu’azu Pindiga, the Governor of Gombe state Muhammadu Yahaya on Sunday swore in the newly appointed Acting Chief Judge Justice Joseph Awak.
Awak hails from Kaltungo Local Government of the state, began civil service career in the judiciary in 1984, in old Bauchi.
Performing the inauguration at the banquet hall of Gombe government house, the governor explained that justice Awak was appointed in consideration of his dedication, experience, and principles.
He urged the recently appointed acting Chief Judge to put those qualities into use to take the Gombe state judiciary to the next level.
He said, “With your oath-taking, constitutionally it has made you head of the judiciary, the third arm of government in the state. As the administrative head, we urge you to dispense justice to all manner of people in the state without discrimination, fear, or favour.
“On our part, this administration will continue to support the judiciary and legislature in discharging their statutory responsibilities effectively for the overall benefit of the good people of Gombe state.”
The governor assured the members of the judiciary that he would continue to make available all necessary facilities and funding that would enhance efficiency and the speedy administration of justice in the state.
